Event: The Mid-Century Modern Architecture of Piscataway Park

Residents of Moyaone Reserve will host a talk, tour and mixer Saturday, Oct. 20, that will explore the history, setting, and architecture of Piscataway Park. The event, Modern Conspiracy: Exploring the Mid-Century Modern Architecture of Piscataway Park, will examine significant mid-century homes designed by architects Charles Wagner, Charles M. Goodman and others.

Piscataway Park, located on the located on the shores of the Potomac River in Maryland, is the first park in the nation to be established to protect a historic view: that of George Washington’s Mount Vernon home. Piscataway Park is also the site of the Moyaone Reserve, a community with the most eclectic mix of mid-century modern architecture in the Washington, D.C. area.

The talk will begin at 1:30 followed by a tour of two mid-century modern homes. During the mixer, drinks and hors d’oeuvres can be enjoyed while taking in views of the Potomac River.

The event is sponsored by the Accokeek Foundation at Piscataway Park, Alice Ferguson Foundation and Moyaone Modern with contributions by Preservation Maryland, Room and Board, Christine Lefebvre Designs, TW Perry and Balducci’s.
