1953 Atomic Ranch on 1/2 Acre in Pine Spring – $459K

Pine Spring sign

Pine Spring was designed by some of D.C.'s leading mid-century modern architects.

This three bedroom/two bath ranch in Pine Spring in Falls Church looks mostly untouched, with its side-gabled roof, wood-beamed ceilings, walls of glass, what look to be original kitchen cabinets and vintage  lighting fixtures. Looks like the bathrooms have been updated. The 1953 house is located here on half an acre.

The 121-home community was built by the Luria brothers, who also developed most of nearby Holmes Run Acres. The homes in Pine Spring were designed by Arthur Keyes, Francis Donald LethbridgeChloethiel Woodard Smith and Nicholas Satterlee. See vintage images of the community from 1950s and ’60s here.

There’s another smaller house in Pine Springs for sale right now. It’s also basically untouched- 3 bed, 1 bath on about 3/10 of an acre. It needs some love in the front, I think but there’s some real potential there. They’ve dropped the price to $365.4.

I sold 3024 Cedar Hill this November. What a wonderful house! Pine Spring is a terrific community. Take a look at their website, with vintage community directories and photos from the 50’s: http://www.pinespring.org/AboutPineSpring.htm
I grew up in a house like these and have never lost my love for the way they look and live.
