My New Listing: Renovated Condo in Mid-Century Prospect House – $448,750

I just listed this mid-century modern condo in the Prospect House in Rosslyn. Highlighted in James M. Goode’s book Best Addresses, the Prospect House by Donald Hudson Drayer is a 1960s mid-century modern haven built on a hilltop directly across the Potomac from the Mall. This stunning, renovated two-level 1 bed/1 bath 1,065-square-foot condo with double height living room features a 13-foot wall of glass looking out to the private patio/garden and toward the city across the river.  It is listed for $448,750.

The design features a prominent staircase that drops down from the entrance level. This allows for the 13-foot living room height and more privacy, as the living space is separated from the hallway.

Renovated with high-end materials by the current owner (the former Northeast Regional manager of Design Within Reach), the kitchen and bathroom feature European products. The kitchen features a Bertazzoni range and Bosch refrigerator and dishwasher.

The bathroom has Duravit sink, toilet and tub, German KEUCO medicine cabinet with LED lighting and mirror dimable light and marble floor.

The master bedroom is tucked privately away from the lobby level and open living space.

Conveniently located in Rosslyn just minutes to Georgetown and 10 minutes to National Airport, you can walk to the Metro (.6 miles), and to nearby shops and restaurants. Trader Joe’s and Whole Foods are just over 1 mile away. The building includes a convenience store, pool and exercise room. One parking spot conveys.

One of the best parts of the building is the well-preserved lobby, from the folded-concrete porte-cochere to the original stone and wood. The front desk even has its original switchboard.  In 1966, the Top O’The Town restaurant was opened on the top floor. Today, it is a reception and conference facility. The annual Prospect House holiday party is held in the space.
