Foreclosure: Standard Properties Mid-Century in Kensington

Standard Properties

This 1954 mid-century bi-level in Kensington by Standard Properties is a foreclosure and needs work if anyone is looking for a project. The house is located in Rock Creek Palisades, which was developed by Clarke, Raleigh and Cushing Daniels. It is listed at $327,300.

“Standard Properties prided themselves on their modern planning, and they were, in fact, quite similar to [Charles] Goodman in their ideas about how to achieve affordable housing without sacrificing living space,”  according to architectural historian Elizabeth Jo Lampl’s history of Goodman’s homes in Montgomery County. Standard Properties marketed their designs as the “Home With All The Answers,” saying they were built after 18 months of research.
