Mid-Century Modern in Charred Oak Estates – $825K

Honeybee

I went to check out this house listed in Charred Oak Estates in Bethesda. This was the first house I listed as an agent. When it sold in 2010, it was completely original. (You can see a few pictures here.) The new owner did some updates to the kitchen and two of the bathrooms. Still has some of the original lighting. Great backyard as well. Charred Oak Estates was developed by builder Ernest Cook of Cook Enterprises. The two-level mid-century modern rambler won the “contemporary” category in the first ever design contest of the Suburban Maryland Builders Association in 1963. The two-level home has a side-gable roof, slate-floor entry and open living room/dinning room with wall of windows overlooking a nearly 1/2 acre wooded lot.

Very handsome, classic ranch home, beautiful lot and siting! Love it. Taxes, not so much.
