House of the Week, Recently Listed MCMs

Hope everyone is enjoying the last few weeks before school starts. This time of year is traditionally slow for new listings coming on but here are a few recently listed homes that might be worth a look as others are at the beach. My listing with partner Sean Satkus was highlighted by the Washington Post as “House of the Week” and did a nice piece on the renovated 1961 Brown & Wright design in Kent. “The house looks like something conceived by the Harvard Five,” writes’s Craig Donofrio. “As it should—Wright studied under Walter Gropius at Harvard while the American Mid-Century Modern movement was beginning. Gropius is considered the father of Bauhaus architecture, having founded the Bauhaus School and taught famous architects such as Philip Johnson and Marcel Breuer.”

How about this architect-designed home in Annandale that would look just right in California? It was designed and built for his own family by Karl E. Kohler, a local architect who died in 2010. I like it’s flat-roof design and how it is nestled into the .71 acre lot. Listed for $725K. Talking about California, take a look at this vintage home in Baltimore listed at $725K or this one in Edgewater listed at $525K. Back closer to DC, this is a nice two-level in Holmes Run Acres listed for $665K.
