Tour Modernist Southwest DC on Oct. 11

Charles Goodman's River Park townhomes in Southwest.

Docomomo-US/DC, the DC Preservation League, and the Southwest Neighborhood Assembly will host a walking tour of the modernist enclave of Southwest Washington DC on Oct. 11. To mark Docomomo-US’s National Tour Day, the local groups will highlight the neighborhood’s historically significant mid-century modern architecture. Southwest DC boasts the greatest concentration of mid-century modern resources in the city, with buildings and landscapes by Charles Goodman, I.M. Pei, Chloethiel Woodard Smith, Harry Weese, Sasaki Walker and Partners, and Dan Kiley, to name just a few. Click here to register. (Disclosure: I am a board member of Docomomo DC.)
