Wear a Piece of Mid-Century Wheaton
Want to help commemorate a local mid-century landmark? Dan Reed of the excellent local site Just Up the Pike has designed a t-shirt showing the Googie sign that marked the entrance to Wheaton Plaza. Dan grew up going to Wheaton Plaza mall, and recently stumbled on an old photo of the sign from the 1960s. “I was inspired to turn it into a t-shirt design as a way celebrating both our local history and a cool mid-century design,” he says. You can buy the shirt here. What other cool mid-century landmarks on Montgomery County’s east side (the area covered by Just Up the Pike) can Dan pay homage to?
