Flip in Holmes Run Acres – $579K

Holmes Run Acres sign

When this house in Holmes Run Acres in Falls Church was on the market last year, I brought several clients to see this house in the National Register of Historic Places neighborhood.  All were architects with mid-century modern tastes. Too bad they did not purse the house, which was a disaster. The property sold for $310K in November. It is now back on the market at $579K.

eh, not bad. Really brought out the ceilings. Horrible railing though!

  2. Rebeccah says:

I was wondering what happened to this house! The inside seems really ‘off’ to me. Too bad. I can’t believe the price they are asking for it either…

  3. Julie Marcis says:

Mike, Can’t say I am a fan of the renovation. It is mixed up…Classic stair rails and trim in a contemorary? There is way too much rust-colored wood trim for my taste….maybe it looks less if you are there. What would you do? Bleach it out? Spend the money on a tree or two in the front yard. Yes, too bad an architect did not buy it.

They will never sell this house for $579,000. It will go for $485,000

  5. Tom says:

Oh good lord – whoever did this should be shot! Colonial staircase and railings? And those contractor-grade vinyl casement windows – yeesh.

  6. DJ1s says:

Pretty sure the old picnic table paint that was left in the garage when they bought it got used on the ceiling.

Wife sez, she wanted to smack whoever made the run to Lowes to get those railings with the railings.

  7. igozoom says:

That’s pretty bad. It must have been in pretty rough shape is this is considered an improvement worth over 1/4 million dollars.

  8. JonnyDanger says:

Oh, Mike. It’s still a disaster. But in a completely different way.
