Sponsor Spotlight: Modern Mobler

Doug Meyers’ hobby turned into an addiction and then into a business. After collecting and selling mid-century modern and Danish modern furniture and accessories from overflowing storage units on Craigslist for many years, Meyers has established his own shop, Modern Mobler. The store, which opened this spring and is located at 7313 Georgia Ave. in Northwest D.C., specializes in vintage furniture (“mobler” means furniture in Danish), art and other decor, primarily from the 1950s, ‘60s and ’70s. “These affordable pieces of functional art will add a unique flavor to your space, and the superb construction means your furniture will last for another 50 years,” says Meyers.

Modern Mobler is open Thursday through Sunday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., or by appointment. Delivery and reupholstery services are available and items are also taken on consignment or purchased. While the inventory in the 1,700 square-foot store changes frequently, Meyers can only display a small slice of his vast collection so inquire if you are looking for a specific piece.

I am happy to welcome Modern Mobler to Washington’s modern scene and as a new sponsor of the site. Stop by and check the new store out and tell Doug that Michael from Modern Capital sent you.

What I love about Doug’s store is the variety of stuff he offers – Danish, American, 50s through 70s, bigs and smalls. All are well considered, eye catching, of high quality and priced fairly. Easily the best selection and deal on MCM objects and furniture in the DC Area….
