1962 ‘Phoenix’ Flat-Roof Mid-Century Modern in Mantua Hills – $699K

I really love these flat-roof mid-century modern homes by Phoenix Builders in Mantua Hill in Fairfax, Virginia. With their flat-roofs, clerestory windows and cool “screen block,” the design epitomizes West Coast mid-century modern style. This home, listed for $699K, has four bedrooms, three bathrooms and three patios to take in the array of azaleas on the nearly half-acre wooded lot.  You can see the virtual tour here.

  1. McGee says:

That’s great the way the original, Geneva, I’ll bet, cabinets and countertops remain in the kitchen. And for all that it’s very, very yellow, the sink and counter in the hall bath is neat. I’d take that old electric cooktop out in a heartbeat, though – that’s a whole lot of no fun to cook on.

What would be a realistic estimate for the average weekday morning commute into downtown DC from this location?

  3. 2cents says:

My guess would be 45-50 minutes although it depends how far into DC you have to go since the worst part of the commute will be once you cross into DC. Assuming you’d be taking 50 that can get pretty backed up sometimes, but not like the Beltway or 395.
