1965 Contemporary in Glen Echo Heights – $798K; Open 7/20

I like how the green concrete and wood exterior of this 1960s contemporary in Glen Echo Heights in Bethesda blends the house right into the trees. The 4/3 3,100 sq. ft. house has a nice open living/dining room area with wood-beamed cathedral ceilings. Kitchen alert: It has granite and stainless steel, although as one reader pointed out in this discussion, the lighter color cabinets make the combination more tolerable than similar kitchens with dark cabinets. The house, located here, is open this Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

    We saw this house. Driveway is very tight with two giant trees on each side. Good luck backing up onto Sangamore. Kitchen is nice though, despite the negative waves on ss/marble on this blog.

    I also saw this house. Driveway did look tight, but when I visited there was a minivan parked in the carport so it can’t be that hard to navigate between the trees.

    All and all an excellent house for the money. The street is a bit busy at times, but I’ve been looking in this neighborhood for a while, and trust me when I tell you that this house would be over $100K more if located one block over.

    House has GREAT bones, but needs some work (some rotting wood in deck, leaky sliding doors, dilapidated fence, original bathrooms, etc). You could easily rent out the bottom portion. The driveway looks bad at first but is manageable once you figure it out. One should also note that it is right down the street from the Glenn Echo fire station. So not only do you have road noise which was noticeable on Sunday, but also firengines, etc. In agreement with the previous poster about pricing/location.

    This house gives the purchaser A LOT for the money, and has a TON of upside potential.

    The rooms are huge in comparison to what else is available in Bethesda at this price point. And the space is very open and airy.

    At less than $800K, the sellers seemed to have priced it to reflect the need for some necessary touch-up work.

    Attended the open house on Sunday and came away very impressed. Incredible natural light throughout the entire main level. The open concept is very appealing. The renovated kitched reflects the million dollar home this would be with some small improvements. Tastefully finished lower level is the perfect playroom, but could also be easily converted into an income generating rental until.

    And the driveway is fine!! A minivan was in the carport!!
